STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE 9

The series of the day is DEEP SPACE 9!!!
Its one of my favorite series.....

Unlike all of the other STAR TREK series this one takes place on a former Cardassian {a slighty evil race of aliens} space station which orbits a planet called Bajor, which until right before the series begins, was fighting for their freedom because they did not like Cardassian rule.

The picture above is the space station. When Commander Benjamin Sisko comes to the station with is son, Jake, he doesn't want to be there. He would rather have a job on earth, maybe designing ships. This makes Captain Picard {my least favorite STAR TREK captain} angry. He is not nearly as angry as Sisko though, Captain Picard had once been turned into a Borg {baaad robot people} and Picard had killed Sisko's wife {even though Picard didn't really know what he was doing}.

Then who should we run into on the station, but O'Brien, Picard's former transporter cheif who is coming to work aboard the station. {remember him from yesterday's post??}

Then we meet Kira, a Bajoran officer, who will be the first officer

Then Odo, a changeling {he can change shape}
Then we meet Jadzia Dax {she is complicated, she has a parasite thing that they call a simbiont in her which has been alive for a really long time so it has traveled from one host to another, the previous host of the Dax simbiont was Curzon, one of Sisko's old friends}

Next we have Dr. Julian Bashir {shhhh he is secretly genetically engineered to be smarter} who can't wait to practice what he calls "frontier medicine"

Then there is Quark, a Ferengi { Ferengi are lying, cheating, stealing aliens} he runs a bar. His nephew will one day be the first Ferengi to join STARFLEET.....
Later, Worf {from the Enterprise....} comes to the station.

As a random peice of information, a scene from STAR TREK: VOYAGER takes place on Deep Space 9 at Quark's bar {where Quark tries to swindle one of the characters into buying some fake jewels}

I shall end with this deep thought {in Vulcan}
Spunau bolayalar t'Wehku bolayalar t'Zamu il t'Veh.
{the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one.}
